In June, we had the opportunity to go on a 7-day cruise to Alaska with my family for my grandparent’s 60th anniversary. This is 1 of 2 trips that Kelly-Shane and I have really wanted to do; the other is Ireland. Anyway, my grandparent’s paid for the cruise part, but we’d have to pay the gratuity, drinks, excursions, and anything else. It was an amazing opportunity and such a wonderful time with family. I’m so thankful that we had our finances in order enough to go. We figured it would be about $1,500 out of pocket, which we had in savings. We never thought we’d be able to go on a CRUISE at 27!! We thought we’d have to be 50 or something before we were able to.
It was such a fantastic feeling to be able to take a vacation like this, and not have to worry. Worry about paying the bills, worry about opening the credit card bills when we got back, juggling which bills to pay when… didn’t happen. It’s hard to explain the feeling, but I just felt “light”. I was so thankful that money worries and debt didn’t stand in the way of this time with family.
